Colour Trends for 2022

Oct 16 2021

Each year interior design industry experts choose colour trends for an upcoming year. In 2021,  colour selection was influenced by a global pandemic. Most of the companies introduced grounding neutral shades or bright uplifting colours as their ‘Colour of the Year’. This coming year, we are all excited to see how 'new normal' will influence the world of interior design. In today’s post, we will write about Dulux and Sherwin-Williams colour selections for 2022. We will also show you some of our products that will look amazing when paired with those shades.

Dulux Colour of the Year

Dulux is one of the most recognised paint companies in the world. Every year they choose one leading colour that impact trends in the interior design and fashion industry. In 2021 the company chose Brave Ground as their ‘Colour of the Year’. The warm brown shade was inspired by a shift towards our well-being. For next year, the company picked more uplifting shade as hope for positive changes. Bright Skies has been announced as the new ‘Dulux Colour of the Year’.

“‘Bright SkiesTM is a light, airy and optimistic blue that’s good for the soul. It promises to open up and revitalise your home.”

The light blue colour reminds us of a summer sky and will definitely bring joy to any interior. It’s a perfect shade to be used in living rooms as it opens up the space. We love the new Dulux colour for its versatility. The breezy blue colour will pair well with pastel and neutral shades.  If you decide to paint large walls with ’Bright Skies’ it shouldn’t overpower the room and let the other colours shine.

For light blue living rooms, we would recommend our vision blinds. They are great for letting a lot of natural light into the room while also giving you some privacy. Our wide selection of vision blinds is available in neutral shades that will coordinate well with walls painted with Bright Skies.

If you are thinking about introducing a light blue shade to your interior, you can also check out our selection of blue blinds. For example, our Roman blinds in a subtle blue colour will complete an airy and cosy look. They are a great product to be used in bedrooms, especially if you choose blackout fabric.

Sherwin-Williams 2022 Colour of the Year

Sherwin-Williams is another one of the major paint companies. This year they chose Evergreen Fog SW 9130 as their colour for 2022. The subtle green shade will bring a natural element to any home. Evergreen Fog has grey hues in it so it will pair well with cool-toned colour palettes. It is a great colour to be used in kitchens and living rooms as it brings fresh energy to the room.

"Evergreen Fog is a sophisticated wash of colour for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade"

The colour will pair well with warm beige shades and neutrals. To complete an earthy look we would recommend adding different textures to the room such as woods and fabrics. Our faux wood blinds are the perfect blind type to complete a rustic look. For example, our Sunwood Amber faux wood blind is in a beautiful warm brown shade. The blind will contrast beautifully with the green colour and look amazing in earthy kitchens.

At Your Blinds Direct, we have blinds in a similar shade to Evergreen Fog SW 9130. For wide windows and patio doors, we would recommend our Banlight Duo FR Green vertical blind. If you are thinking about introducing green to your bedroom, our Polaris Blackout Moss is a great choice.
