Bathrooms are one of the most used areas of the house. Decorating your bathroom can be tricky, as you want your space not only to look stylish but also to be functional. Window blinds are great for adding the finishing touch to the room and complementing your space. However, not all window coverings are suitable for humid areas. That’s why in today's post we will share with your some of the best bathroom blinds and feature our favourite products so you can pick the right products.
There are a few factors to consider before deciding on a certain blind type. Firstly, think about the size of your bathroom and whether it has good ventilation. Smaller rooms will naturally be more humid and will require a window covering made from waterproof fabrics. If you have a large bathroom that doesn't get steamy, you will have more choices.
Privacy is important when it comes to bathrooms as you don't want nosey neighbours to see you taking a shower. Depending on where your window is placed, you will need to consider how much natural light you want to let into the room. Some blind types will completely cover your window and hide the outside view whereas the other will give you more control.
Aluminium Venetian Blinds
Venetian Blinds are popular blind types for humid areas of the house. The blind is made of powder coated aluminium slats that are water and moisture resistant. That’s why they are a great choice for windows that are placed near the bathtub or shower. This blind type is popular for flexible light and privacy control. Horizontal slats are great for keeping your bathroom private while also letting some natural light in. Venetian blinds are also easy to clean and maintain. Check out our easy cleaning guide here.
Lastly, aluminium blinds are a stylish addition to any bathroom. The blind will add a contemporary touch to your space and look amazing in modern spaces. At Your Blinds Direct, we have a wide selection of Venetian blinds in vibrant and neutral colours to suit your style. Faux Wood Blinds
Faux wood blinds are a great alternative to real wood blinds. The blind is made from high-quality PVC composite that is 100% waterproof and doesn’t absorb water. Therefore, we would recommend them for steamy bathrooms and humid areas of the house. The blind will let light into your room while also keeping the optimum privacy. They are also wiped clean and won't get damaged when exposed to mild cleaning detergents.
Faux wood blinds are also a stylish addition to your bathroom. The horizontal slats have a timeless look of wood but are much more durable and practical. At Your Blinds Direct, we have a range of faux wood blinds in various colours that will bring a contemporary touch to your interior. For example, our Sunwood Amber Faux Wood Blind will add a natural warmth to your bathroom.

Roller blinds are a popular choice for bathrooms as they are versatile and can give you the ultimate privacy. The blind is made of one piece of fabric that can be easily pull up or down. Depending on a fabric choice, the blind can either gently filter the sunlight or completely darken up your room. Roller blinds are also easy to clean and maintain. The majority of fabrics available on our website are made from polyester. Those fabrics will be suitable for windows placed near the sink, but we would advise to not place them directly near the bathtub or shower. Polyester fabrics are moisture-resistant and should not get mouldy when exposed to water however they are not fully waterproof.
For steamy bathrooms, we would recommend roller blinds made from PVC material. These blinds are fully waterproof so they can be placed in areas near the shower or bathtub. At Your Blinds Direct, we have some patterned roller blinds made from PVC material. For example, our Quackers Blackout Blue Senses Roller Blind can be a great addition to kids bathrooms.

Blinds you should avoid in bathrooms
Some window dressings are not suitable for bathrooms and can get marked and mouldy when exposed to water. Generally, we would not advise blinds made of cotton or with cotton content for any moisture areas. Real wood is also a material that you should avoid when looking for bathroom blinds as it can warp when wet.
Roman blinds are made from a single piece of curtain fabric. The blind is a stylish choice for various rooms of the house. However, roman blinds are only suitable for dry areas of the house. When exposed to too much humidity the blind is susceptible to mould. If you want to place a roman blind in the bathroom, make sure that it’s in the area where it won’t have direct contact with water. Always make sure that the room is ventilated and the blind stays dry. This is not applicable to most homes, which is why we would generally not recommend placing a roman blind in the bathroom.
Real Wood Blinds
Real wood blinds are a popular choice for window dressing due to their timeless design. The blind will look great in bedrooms and living rooms, but we would not recommend it for moisture areas. Real wood can easily warp or stain when exposed to water. Faux wood blinds are a great alternative that will give you the same style while also being 100% waterproof.
We hope that now you feel more confident about choosing the right blind for your bathroom. Always try to look for the materials such as aluminium, faux wood and PVC. Those fabrics will be moisture resistant and won’t absorb water. Remember to avoid blinds made from cotton or real wood.
